Description
The Hungry Warrior is the exclusive event tiki mug for the 2nd annual Superstition Village Tiki Marketplace in 2023. The mug is based on the original (uncredited) menu cover art from The Islands Polynesian Restaurant. This legendary Phoenix, Arizona tiki establishment opened in 1958 and served the original generation of tiki fans until sometime in the mid 1980s when it was unceremoniously demolished. 2023 marked what would have been The Island’s 65th Anniversary, so Tiki Maniacs decided it was a fitting time to do a tribute mug. 150 mugs were made by sculptor and mug producer Patrick Vassar at Monkey Skull Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida. All mugs include a custom made skull design swizzle stick and an exclusive cocktail recipe by legendary Arizona mixologist, Dan Choiniere (aka Tiki Dan).
