Shima Ceramics recently announced a new auction of two Mermaid mugs via Instagram. The mugs are hand painted in Port Costa, CA and were originally sculpted in 2016. The mugs being auctioned are numbers 24 and 25.
This tiki mug depicts a siren of the deep with a tiki-style face and a classic mermaid tail. The mug was inspired by the shape of the classic Fog Cutter mug, which has a hourglass shape resembling the female form. It stands approximately 8½” tall and holds about 24 fl. oz.
The auction is being held on the official Shima Ceramics Instagram page. The first of two mugs have already been listed and the auction will end at 8:00 PM PST on Monday, August 10, 2020. Shipping in the US is included. The winning bid must pay via venmo within 24 hours of the auction ending.
The Mermaid mug has also been released previously in a Rust and Chrome edition, which is not a part of the auction. You can read more about that version here.
