The Reef’s new “The King of Kapu” mug is a delicious new spin on the famous Ren Clark Severed Head mug. Produced by John Mulder of Eekum Bookum, The King of Kapu is being offered in an initial run of 100 mugs, but more of them will be produced once the initial offerings sell out.

The severed head is high-fired in the USA. Some variations in glazing do exist given the hand-made nature of these mugs. The intrepid explorer is depicted wearing a classic explorer’s hat that is embellished with a tiki on the front. Each mug retails for $99, but for an additional $5 it comes with a cocktail named “Wildsville’s Wrong Turn, which was created exclusively for The Reef by Cameron Robbins.

Eekum Bookum is a mug manufacturer headed by John Mulder out of a studio in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Its mugs are hand produced. Eekum Bookum is famous for producing highly detailed and creative mugs for some of the world’s largest tiki events such as The Hukilau, Tiki Caliente and Tiki Oasis. It also manufactures tiki mugs for bars and it produces its own line of tiki mugs under the label Mulder142.

At the time of this writing, The King of Kapu is only available in person at The Reef in Palm Springs. Facebook groups, such as Trader Sam’s Mug Trading group, can help mug collectors find someone available to do a pick-up.
