Description
This mug depicts a Hawaiian wahine against a palm tree trunk; she wears a grass skirt and a red bra top; also a lei and flower in her hair. She has her hands behind her head, pushing up her hair. There is a logo circle on the back, encircled with a lei, reading, : “Islander, Stockton, California”. It has an unmarked concave bottom w/ an Otagiri sticker.

Special Notes: The Islander in Stockton, CA was a Tiki bar and nightclub from the 1960’s – 1982. Began by an owner named Hop Sing, it was taken over by Tommy Lee in 1966 and featured nightclub acts and sub-rosa gambling. It introduced various iconic Tiki mugs over the years, made by Otagiri/OMC. Four years after closing, the building was moved to a new location by Hwy 99 and Eight Mile Rd.
