The HONU, a Hawaiian themed Lei’d back cafe in downtown Dunedin, Florida, will be celebrating its fifth anniversary with a tiki mug release. The new mug, created by Eekum Bookum, depicts a sea turtle riding waves on the back of its shell, while fish swim beneath it. “The Honu Dunedin, Fl” is written on the front of the mug.

The HONU Turtle is the bar’s first official tiki mug. It features a multicolored glaze of mostly brown and blue tones, with a black interior. The belly of the turtle is accentuated with Polynesian-style carvings.

Eekum Bookum is a mug manufacturer headed by John Mulder out of a studio in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Its mugs are hand produced. Eekum Bookum is famous for producing highly detailed and creative mugs for some of the world’s largest tiki events such as The Hukilau, Tiki Caliente and Tiki Oasis. It also manufactures tiki mugs for bars and it produces its own line of tiki mugs under the label Mulder142.

The new mug will be released in-person only this Friday, February 26th, between 4:00pm and 7:00pm EST. John and Janet Mulder will be in attendance signing mugs. Each HONU turtle mug retails for $125, plus tax, and mug sales will be limited to one per customer. In addition to the mug release, the HONU will have live entertainment from 3:00pm until 10:00pm, with a limited food and tiki drink menu.
