After briefly appearing in Walt Disney’s The Haunted Mansion when it opened in 1969, the inspiration for this tiki mug, the Hatbox Ghost, was removed from the attraction suddenly and without notice. Explanations for his abrupt departure are plentiful and remain a mystery, however the Hatbox Ghost has finally returned for your ghoulish enjoyment. Forever immortalized in four different tiki mugs, the Hatbox Ghost hopes to materialize in your home…. that is unless you’d rather join him and the 999 haunts at the Haunted Mansion.

Special Notes: Another version of this mug was released at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto the same year. While this version has a face in its hat box, the other has a face on its shoulders. This mug was initially sold via a distribution of wristbands starting at 10:00am while supplies lasted. Customers were able to secure the mug without limitation in later days. Both a pin and ornament were also released to coincide with the release of this mug.
