It is the one year anniversary of Max’s South Seas Hideaway and they are celebrating with the release of their latest tiki mug, Gecko. Gecko is inspired by one of their owners and he is depicted wearing a kukui nut lei and chiseling a Tiki out of wood. Hawaiian artist Gecko is a world-renowned tiki artist based in Honolulu.
Michigan artist Doug P’Gosh drew up the design for this mug and Max’s South Seas Hideaway produced the mug out of their Grand Rapids ceramic studio. The mug will be available in two different glazes– Maori Red (glossy) and Sandstone Brown (matte). Each glaze will be an edition of 100, with a total edition size of 200 mugs.
These mugs will be available today, Saturday, October 17, at 11:00am for $125 each. There is a limit of two mugs per person at the event. Gecko will not be in attendance at the event, but Doug P’Gosh will be there signing mugs. Initially these mugs will be sold in-person only, but any remaining inventory will be added to an e-commerce website later this month.
